 Most women in Brisbane and many in our neighbouring states would have seen or heard of either The Twang Gang’ or the more newly formed ‘GangStars’.
Essentially the GangStars are an entertaining and humorous drag king show involving a cast of up to 20 women. Their performances are fun, light hearted, a little crazy but most of all fresh.
The group’s success can largely be contributed to the talented and creative mind of the driving force behind the team, Dita, who performs as ‘RockHard’.
Those who know her off stage would be well aware of Dita’s many other talents.
Dita, who is very community minded, has lent her talents in stage management, lighting, sound and choreography to many community events. She is an artist, entertainer, DJ and most definitely an ‘ideas women’.
Perhaps Dita’s indigenous heritage and strong connection to her culture is part of her success as a performer, but whatever the reason she can certainly feel proud of the many women in our community who just love watching her perform.
BrizVegas, upstairs at the Wickham Hotel, is one of Dita’s newest ventures and offers a fantastic night out for lesbians and their friends.
And although Dita deserves all our thanks for the many years of support and entertainment she’s given to the community, I know she would also want me to acknowledge the many amazing women who have worked alongside her to make the groups performances such a success.
