As AnthonySmith, organiser of Brisbane queer rockfest Holes and Poles explains: “Some people like holes, some people like poles, and some people like both.” Hmmm... us innocent folk here at ‘Agenda’ aren’t sure we know what he means. But one thing we do know is that Holes and Poles, now in its third year, is a must for anyone into Brisbane’s thriving alternaqueer culture. A highlight of the 2009 Brisbane Pride Festival, Holes and Poles will feature five of the best queer bands in Brisbane and the cream of our DJ talent. “This year should be huge!” exclaims Smith. “We have favourites like Anal Traffic (pictured), Jacob Diefenbach and Twist Oliver Twist playing, but also new to the event are the amazing Silver Circus and the energetic Lesbian Super Group.” All profits will go straight back into the Brisbane Pride Festival. Holes and Poles: from 8pm Saturday, June 6 at the Globe Theatre, 222 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley. Entry $12 on the door.
