Queenslander is the new Mister Leather

Pierre Brand
A Queenslander has taken out the Mister Leather Australia and New Zealand contest and will fly to Chicago next May to compete for the title of Mister Leather World.

Pierre Brand, who was named Mister Queensland Leather at Corium in July, won the national title in Melbourne on September 26.

“My feet have hardly touched the ground since,” an elated Brand told Queensland Pride.

“It’s all been pretty wild. In my mind at least, I went into the competition as the underdog. The Melbourne leather scene is massive, and I was the little Queenslander.”

Brand, who was the cover star of Queensland Pride’s August edition, won a trip for two to compete in Chicago, accommodation at the Chicago Hilton and a car to drive while in the US.

“The competition is quite serious, and is the same as the format used at leather competitions the world over. The judges were from all over the country, from leather outlets to health organisations to general people connected to the gay community – there was someone from every corner.

Friday night was the big night at Collingwood Town Hall, which was the climax of Melbourne’s Leather Pride week.

“Is climax the appropriate word? It certainly was for me!”

A triumphant Pierre will display his sash and trophy to the Boot Co at the Mineshaft on Saturday, October 4.
