Pope’s queer kiss-off PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 26 June 2008

LGBTs and their supporters will gather in Brisbane and Sydney on July 19 for simultaneous kiss-in protests against “homophobic religions” and Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to Australia.

The kiss-ins are an initiative of Brisbane’s own self-declared pontiff and art scene identity, Pope Alice, who told Queensland Pride she hoped the event would eventually become celebrated annually as International Kissing Day.

“Let’s establish an International Kissing Day and send a message to Old Queen Benedict and all homophobes and self-hating people everywhere [that] everyone is beautiful [and] the future is beautiful,” Alice said.

“This is a new era for humanity. All the old medieval religions and medieval thinking are out of step with the rest of the world and the progress of love.

“Homosexuality is natural and genetic. Kissing is natural. Kiss a queer for Christ’s sake.”

Pope Alice said the Sydney kiss-in had attracted the support of a number of groups, including Community Action Against Homophobia (CAAH), the Rainbow Sash Movement, the Raelians, Socialist Alliance, Sydney Atheists, Socialist Alternative and the Greens.

The Brisbane kiss-in will be held at Queen’s Gardens on July 19 from 3pm. For more information, visit popealice.com.

God, whoever he or she or it might be, can only want love. Selectivity in regard to what form that love may take, what gender a man or a woman may choose to be attracted to is immaterial. It is love, and it is beautiful.

I think this display of love for the same sex that some people have in them is beautiful, because it represents the freedom people have within themselves to express themselves, after decades of repression and prejudice.

As a bisexual woman, having grown up a Catholic, I believe that one day homosexuality and religion can both stand, freely and happily.

LOL at some of these comments.

"I would rather ingest some fresh veggies than some fecal matter, thank you very much."

Well for someone who doesn't like to eat fecal matter you sure do talk a lot of shit.

Sorry I really couldn't help myself.

I plan to kiss the girl I'm falling for for the first time during this protest... it will be magic.

The Pope was once a member of the Hitler youth movement.
WOW what a great representative for World Youth Day and it's costing Australia a small fortune in tax $.

What are all these Christians doing reading gay magazines? We know they are obsessed with "fecal matter" and "sin" but they aren't going to find it here.

They won't find Hell here either, poor luvs. Their Hell is in their own heads and we hope they get well soon and see the light and be the light they want to be.

Homosexuality is natural. Period.
Those who don't want to face this reality can keep their head buried in the criminal fairy tales of an organisation which has killed and tortured billions of Humans in Mankind's History: the Catholic Church.
Homosexuality is visible everywhere in the animal world.
You are free to think whatever you want about it, the children of your children will one day wonder how primitive their grandfathers were...
I think that this "Kiss-ins" event will help to reveal how homophobic religions are. Just reading the comments below shows how much it is needed.

I have never really had a problem with the Catholic Church's teachings on homosexual behaviour. Few people ever really bother reading the Church's teachings, but only balk at the Church and the Pope for having a "backward" or "homophobic" take on things. The Church stresses the importance of loving the individual and witnessing to the homosexual, while at the same time disapproving on the behaviour. "Hate the sin, love the sinner," as it's said.

People try to say that the Church has called homosexuals "intrinsically disordered" when in reality this statement was said about homosexual behaviour. We are made up of so much more than just our behaviour, and the Church recognizes this.

If you think about it, homosexual behaviour is unsanitary, anyway. I would rather ingest some fresh veggies than some fecal matter, thank you very much. As the DNC now goes a bit greener by banning fried foods from its convention, and promoting healthier foods, why don't we on the same token give a bit more credence to the Church's teaching that homosexual behaviour is "intrinsically disordered". I think few really realize the health benefits embedded in the Church's teachings.

A bit childish in their language, but the idea of celebrating with a kiss is not particularly upsetting unless one is prejudiced.

God bless Pope Benedict and his noble stand against selfish and nihilistic secularists who spend all their time trying to ruin the social fabric of the world rather than actually helping anybody.

You guys seriously think giving condoms to people with AIDS makes them feel better?

You guys are the ones who are stuck in the 18th Century and you need to get over it. Worldwide, the church is growing and Atheists/Agnostics still make up far less than 5% of the world.

It's funny though, how we want everyone to accept us but can't live and let live with those who disagree with us. Who cares what the Pope thinks or believes. If our message is true, we can withstand his views without counter protests. There is an old saying, "Never kick a skunk" and these type of displays are kicking.

If you don't like Catholic doctrines, morals and beliefs then don't be Catholics: it is as simple as that. There is no need for you to protest against the holy father or others.

How is insulting the pope as "Old Queen Benedict" in keeping with the "new era for humanity ... and the progress of love"?

This is they type of vacuous imbecility that is produced by the gay community. It just goes to show that their real problem is their immaturity and deformed sexual preferences. Take Biology 101 and learn what is the function of the human genitalia. You may come to realize that a man's genitalia is no more compatible with another man's genitalia, than it is with a tree. Homosexuality = Sterility of thought, sterility of sexuality and sterility of action.

The media is ENTIRELY on your side. It takes no guts at all to report something like this. It only takes a wanting to be liked by everyone to report this. Will the media have the guts to interview same-sex attracted men who choose chastity/celibacy in a way that doesn't paint them as lunatic. The media doesn't have the guts.

Interesting how those who cry out for tolerance are themselves intolerant. Homosexual behavior certainly is not natural,(unless you mean a natural perversion) because it takes a male to biologically procreate. If it's genetic, then medicine can some day correct the genetic defect. The last argument is just as weak, in that morality is not determined by a democratic vote.

What future do sterile relationships have?
Short-term.

Why doesn't the CAAH attack Islam as well? It's almost as old as Catholicism, is MORE homophobic, and more full of hate towards gays.

"Do you think that the media will have the guts to report it?"

Haha! Do you really think the media will miss an opportunity to appease a bunch of queers and socialists by attacking the Catholic Church and its most venerable office? What rock have you been living under?

If homosexuality is natural and genetic, why don't we see more parrots and sharks and bears breaking off into gay partnerships on the Discovery Channel? I guess I am a self-hater for even asking that. LOL!

No, the Church under Pope Benedict will not suffer from atrophy, it will bloom all the more, albeit slowly due to the amount of obstacles that atheistic modernity has created.

I lived the "gay", same-sex lifestyle for over thirty years. I was one if its strongest supporters. I used to call my own same-sex desires the one constant in my life. I know all about the sub-culture; I know it from the inside. And I know that it's not a happy place. It's a place of loneliness, depression, sexual promiscuity, drug abuse, and above all confusion.

Jesus loves us all, gay and straight, no matter what we've done. God the father loves us so much that he sent his only Son to live as a slave taking on a human nature, and even to die a humiliating death on the cross for us and for our sins. But He doesn't want us to continue living in sin. What God wants for us is to be happy, free of sin and full of His life. The same-sex lifestyle is a life of license not a life of freedom. It is the result of pain in childhood. I know that is true about my own life, and I know that to be true about all the "gay" men who I've known well enough to know about the kind of childhood they've had. No amount of self-medication will heal that.

When I felt God's call to come back to Him last fall I knew that my own same-sex attraction was an obstacle to that. I could not pretend, like others, that the Bible is not clear about this issue. For me it all came down to one issue - was my god my own homosexuality, or was it the living God of Israel? I saw it as a matter of was I living up to the First Commandment, to love God above all others.

Once I accepted this I went to confession and confessed to over thirty years of Godless living. I cried for close to an hour afterwards, but went to Holy Communion the next day, at a Latin Mass. Since then God has blessed me with healing, peace, strength, prosperity, life and love. None of this was known to me before being received into communion with His Church through His body in the Eucharist.

So please don't say that Jesus or His Church doesn't love you just because the Church continues to tell the truth about what God teaches us about personal morality and our bodies. Jesus loves us, all of us, more than we can ever know.

We all are sinners, we all will continue to sin as long as we're on earth in our mortal bodies. This is why Jesus instituted the sacrament of penance. I have to go to confession sometimes several times a week, but each time I get stronger through grace.

The peace of Christ be with you all!

Mark

How disgraceful - a public display of wickedness. What exactly will this prove - how unrepentant you are of this profound perversion? May God help you.

"This is a new era for humanity. All the old medieval religions and medieval thinking are out of step with the rest of the world and the progress of love."

Ho hum: utter nonsense. New era? Like communism? or fascism? Christianity was out of step there too, but the 'unstoppable march of progress' seems to have favoured the ancient over the novel. Issues of God aside, consider the intellectual and cultural debt of the West to the Christian Church. Like it or not, believe (in) it, or not, Christianity *works* and produces a confident, stable and stimulating society.

What has sexual license given us these last forty years? Broken families, wounded children, STD epidemics, selfishness masquerading as love, population decline and concomitant economic difficulties offset only by mass immigration (of very family oriented non-western 'foreigners').

No, I cannot agree. The Benedicts and the Billy Grahams of this world will leave a legacy of infinitely more use than the relief of a sudden hormonal rush.

Good for you! The CAAH should fight back. If Benedict keeps tightening the reins on the church, it will completely suffer atrophy. Every day, every week, a new "Back to the Future" (or is it 'Back to the Past'?) decree. If Benedict doesn't die in peace, the church certainly will fold under his leadership. I wish I could be there to see the kiss-in. Do you think that the media will have the guts to report it?
