The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras has announced several key changes pertaining to its 2010 festival. Next year, the event – the world’s largest gay and lesbian festival – will move to a two week format, and hold the famous annual Parade and Party on separate, consecutive weekends. A spokesperson said the changes were “designed to make Mardi Gras an even more attractive event in the calendar of Sydneysiders and the world’s gay travellers”. The shortening of the festival from one month to two weeks would allow “a more concentrated two-week festival, curated in tandem with its many arts partners”, he said. Key dates next year will include the Launch and Fair Day on February 21, the Parade on February 27 and the Party on March 6.
