Thousands of gays are expected to go troppo in Lismore later this month as LGBT groups put on a week of parties to attract New Year revellers to New Year’s celebrations in the Northern Rivers region’s unofficial capital.
Now in its 20th year, Tropical Fruits are rolling out the red carpet for their huge New Year’s Eve party, which will feature a huge fireworks display, an edgy art exhibit, film festival, DJs and performers.
Organisers have been hand-making a gigantic red carpet for the event.
Fruits’ New Year’s Eve blasts from 8pm to 6am and then dives into Splash, the sexy pool party on the first of January from 10am to 4pm. The partying then continues back at the showground with Recovery from 4pm to 1:30am with live music, a BBQ feast and DJs. Hundreds of queer campers will converge on the Lismore showgrounds December 27.
Those arriving early for Tropical Fruits will be able to kick-start their celebrations at Bent Events’ Madhatter T-Dance at the Lismore Workers’ Club on December 30.
T-dance DJs will include Tobin Saunders (aka Vanessa Wagner), Sista Ray, Lady K and Magoo, while performers in four live shows include Starfirefly, Glamozone and Muscle Beach Aerialists.
Bent Events’ schedule of entertainment also includes Pink Bowling on December 28, a BBQ and pool party on December 29 and the Bodacious Womyn-only party on January 2.
