Haggard quits 'restoration' program PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 08 February 2008
The world's most famous "ex-gay", Pastor Ted Haggard, has asked to leave the "spiritual restoration program" created for him in the wake of the gay prostitution and drugs scandal that enveloped him in 2006.

Mike Jones (above) in 2006, when he claimed Haggard had regular sex with him.

Haggard's former home, Denver's New Life Church, has issued a press release announcing that as the disgraced churchman's restoration is "incomplete", he is not welcome to return to New Life.

"New Life Church recognises the process of restoring Ted Haggard is incomplete and maintains its original stance that he should not return to vocational ministry. However, we wish him and his family only success in the future," the press release from Pastor Brady Boyd reads.

"Because spiritual restoration is a necessarily confidential process, the church does not anticipate that it, or its Overseers or Restorers will make further comment about it."

It was a different story 12 months ago when the church reported Haggard had made a recovery and was now "completely heterosexual" after just three weeks of therapy.
