A prominent historical Queensland same-sex couple is among ten couples featured in a new exhibition celebrating long distance love spanning three centuries at the State Library of Queensland.
Among the lifelong companions featured in the Travelling for Love exhibition are pioneering Brisbane women Dr Lillian Cooper and Josephine Bedford.
Cooper was the first female GP in Queensland. Cooper and Bedford also served together in Serbia during World War I.
The exhibition displays letters, photographs, artworks, diaries and some of the personal belongings of the ten couples.
Travelling for Love is open until 1 June, in the Philip Bacon Heritage Gallery, level 4, State Library of Queensland.
