A strong contingent of gays, lesbians and equal rights advocates has been chosen to participate in the Australia 2020 Summit on April 19 and 20.
The summit will bring together 1,000 Australians from all walks of life to debate and develop long-term options for the nation's future.
Among the gay and gay-friendly Australians chosen to attend the summit at Canberra’s Parliament House are Queenslanders Dr Wendell Rosevear and PFLAG national spokesperson Shelley Argent (pictured).
Argent is also a contributor to Queensland Pride.
Other familiar names to attend are journalist David Marr, health policy strategist Bill Bowtell, film director Ana Kokkinos (Head On), film and theatre director Neil Armfield (Candy), theatre director Barry Kosky, playwright Michael Gow, community development expert Jude Munro, and arts gurus Kristy Edmunds and Greg Mackie.
Among the key areas under discussion at the summit will be preventative health strategies, strengthening communities and social inclusion, the rights and responsibilities of citizens, and the future of the arts, film and design.
