KD LANG [WMA]
Hey lady, what’s with your bagging out our lovely Melbourne? Frightfully cold sheets? Cold dark places? Ummm, girlfriend, didn’t you grow up in Canada, home of 11 month winters and six feet of snow?
Watershed sees a definite return to form for the principal singer of the lesbian world. It’s all very ‘voice as instrument’, her words rolling in like a mist across a freshly harvested field at dawn, the smell of nature in the air as the sweet song of birds heralds a new day.
However, as pretty as Watershed is, it’s easy to lose focus halfway with the lacklustre lyricism, the repetitive melodies and the droning ambiance. Kathy Dawn needs to feel the pain, or get happy.
