SOHO DOLLS [A&G]
Presenting visually and musically as a younger, hipper and sexier English version of Marilyn Mansons’s psycho troupe, the Soho Dolls - fronted by stilettoed sex bomb Maya von Doll - are about to explode on to the queer, post-goth rock scene. Self described as ‘decaying and desperate glamour’ and ‘savagery and sex’, their brilliant reinterpretation of traditionally dark glam rock as a synth pop extravaganza is instantly appealing for a warped gay sensibility.
Viewers of new TV show Gossip Girl may have already heard the Dolls’ ‘Stripper’. Ribbed Music is disco burlesque with a Depeche Mode sound, designed to be played loud for maximum sensual pleasure. It’s sex on a stick, so lick it.
