THE TEENAGERS [BEGGARS XL RECORDING]
Here’s another hot tip on the next big thing in indie guitar pop from lo-fi French trio The Teenagers. They’re three foul-mouthed, rather cute bad boys who make cheeky pop with a sexy edge. As only the French know how, they confuse stolen kisses with backseat humping, in a Gen Y surge of post-pubescent hormones.
Lead singer Michael Szpiner has a cute accent that he uses to seduce the hordes of young things throwing themselves at him. It’s a simple premise that is the foundation of this potty-mouthed pub act that’s slowly conquering the world. There’s little respect for love, with the primary focus on self-satisfaction. It’s so wrong, but so funny. It’s easy to fall under the spell of these electrified boys. Who else would release a single called ‘Fuck Nicole’?
