VARIOUS (STOMP)
Within the friendly competition of the mixed artist compilation CD, labels are always encouraging their mixmasters to do a Shirley McLaine and go out on a limb.
And so it is with this fifth instalment of the Late Night Tales series (previously put together by the fine stable of Air, Norman Cook, Belle and Sebastian and Nouvelle Vague).
The Groove Armada boys have created a perfect blend of old classics (‘Things That Dreams Are Made Of’, ‘Love is the Drug’ and ‘Enjoy the Silence’) with newer favourites (’The Chills’, ‘Son of Dragon’ (a rave standard) and Roscoe’s ‘Midlake’).
Then there are the curveball entries from Will Young, Stevie Wonder and The Cure.
I’m loving the GA’s own cover version of the insanely sexy ‘Are Friends Electric’ the most.
Make this CD an essential part of your next steamy bedroom session.
