On a particularly opposite bent, but one no less popular with the diverse queer community, is this double collection of love songs from the scope of Disney movies. Six decades worth of schmaltzy romance from gorgeous animated classics like Pinocchio (‘When You Wish Upon a Star’), Bambi (‘Looking For a Romance’), Cinderella (‘So This is Love’) and Snow White and the Seven Dwarves (‘I’m Wishing/One Song’) to the modern era blockbusters like Aladdin (’A Whole New World’), Enchanted (‘True Love’s Kiss’), The Lion King (‘Love Will Find a Way’) and Pochahontas (‘If I Never Knew You’) appear in their original recordings. From the sometimes crackly, for the pre-war hits, to the overblown orchestration of the modern world, the immense impact of Disney on popular culture and musical theatre is undeniable.
