MADONNA FEAT. JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE (WMA)
I wish I could say that Madge’s foray into RnB was as awesome as her
adaptations of 70s disco, 80s funk, 90s Latin and 00s house.
Sadly I can’t. Sure, she’s wrenched out her hairy chequebook and
purchased the charms of the most successful crew in popular music
(Timbaland and Justin T) in an obvious attempt to win back the hearts
of her long-lost American audience, however it’s the credibility factor
that screams ‘faker’.
This style of white ghetto-pop just doesn’t sit well with a proper lady of the manor like Madonna. ‘4 Minutes’ is just too busy – a messy mix of horns, Hummer beats, competing vocals and inane lyrics.
It’s simply not very good. It’s simply not disco. Perhaps if M donated
even half of her inconceivably-sized fortune to actually saving the
world, her words may not seem so empty.
